This program is a mentoring program that uses volunteers from the community. Volunteers have a desire to work with young people and have some time they wish to put to use in a very positive way. The volunteers are cleared and trained by School Volunteers Incorporated (SVP).The mentors who work in our school spend one hour each week with their mentoring student. The mentors have proved to be extremely valuable in helping students increase their levels of confidence and self esteem. We are always keen to welcome new mentors.

PASH
The PASH program (Promoting Adolescent Sexual Health) is a peer education program aimed at teaching adolescents about sexual health, contraception, risk taking behaviours and developing their communication and assertiveness skills. The program provides a safe environment for the girls and boys to engage in learning more about the sexual health of adolescents, and to explore their own feelings and experiences without being judged by others. The course is normally offered for Year 9 girls and Year 10 boys.ACE
The ACE program (Adolescents Coping with Emotions) is an early intervention program aimed at building resilience and helping young people to develop more effective coping strategies for dealing with the many challenges of adolescence. The program aims to teach the students ways to challenge their thinking patterns, develop problem solving strategies and learn better ways to get along with others and to boost their self esteem. This course is normally offered to Year 8 and 9 students.Year 11 Mentors
A select group of Year 11 students are trained to act as mentors to the incoming Year 8 students. Each mentor helps the Year 8s settle into Hampton Senior High School. Mentors are taught skills including teamwork, active listening and organisation. The Year 11 mentors visit Year 8 contact classes during the first 4 to 6 weeks of Term 1. They can initially help with ensuring students can read their timetable and locate classrooms. Other activities that Year 11 mentors can assist with is checking diary use and file organisation.Reward Activities
Reward excursions are organised at the discretion of the appropriate Year Coordinator. At least one end of year excursion is organised for each year group. All staff are provided with the opportunity to attend these events and interact with students in a social situation.Year 8 Orientation Activity

It is also to give staff the opportunity to interact with the students in a social setting. All staff, in particular the Year 8 contact teachers are invited to attend this event

The Year 8 Coordinator determines the nature and program for this event.
