Enterprise Access is coordinated by school-based staff who ensure a quality service to students. We ensure that our students are offered a learning culture that requires them to demonstrate -

• Responsibility and reliability
• Acquisition of industry-specific skills
• Commitment at school and in the workplace

EA students typically spend three days a week at school and two days in the workplace or with a training provider. Special timetable arrangements must be made to accommodate this program. The following descriptions of the various courses indicate the typical subjects that students will study. The number of students involved and their career choice sometimes makes it necessary to alter these subjects.

The various strands are focused on industry areas where there is a strong labour market demand and good career prospects.

Graduating students are advantaged in terms of employment and access to TAFE, and in some cases may seek university entrance via alternative pathways.

What is the School Apprenticeship Link? SAL

This two-year course is aimed at students seeking further training and employment in various construction trades.

The School Apprenticeship Link or SAL is a fantastic opportunity for young people still attending school and enrolled in the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), to be one step ahead of other young people who want to do an apprenticeship. SAL provides an opportunity for students to get a real taste of what the workplace is all about.

Training in 2008 starts with a taste of a number of trades in a selected industry. This is made up of three days at school, one day at a TAFEWA college and one day in a workplace.

Students who successfully complete SAL in Years 11 or 12 are guaranteed a place at a TAFEWA college to complete the intensive training component which will fully prepare them for an apprenticeship.

On successful completion of the SAL program students will receive help to find an employer and gain an apprenticeship.

By participating in SAL there is a very good chance the normal four year term of their apprenticeship will be shortened.

The trade areas being offered in the SAL program are a family of trades in Automotive, Building and Construction, Hospitality and Metals and Engineering. Students will be exposed to a variety of trades within the industry they select as part of SAL.
