Health & Physical Education
In recent years the area has expanded the number of courses offered and increased places have been eagerly taken up by students, particularly in Senior School.
Outdoor Recreation is a popular senior school elective with students enjoying varied and practically based learning experiences. Camps are well supported by students who are provided with challenges and activities that they rarely experience in the Perth Metro area.
Hampton Athletics Academy will expose students to a professional format of training, with high level testing and program development. This program is designed to give students a competitive edge when participating in athletic events at school and state level. Athletics Academy Information Booklet
The Health and Physical Education Learning area represents an important part of the overall education experience for the vast majority of students.
At Hampton Senior High School, we take great pride in our sporting pursuits. The school is involved in many sporting events organised by School Sport WA. Students are provided with opportunities to represent the school in lightning carnivals, interschool swimming, athletics, basketball, cricket, soccer, AFL and netball competitions. School based swimming and whole school athletics carnivals are also held annually. The school is fortunate in having its own 25 metre pool as well as expansive, well maintained sporting ovals. Our students are highly competitive during these competitions with keen interest and high levels of participation.
The Health and Physical Education team are committed to ensuring that students are positively engaged in learning experiences across a variety of contexts. Our aim is to facilitate opportunities for students to develop as responsible individuals who will ultimately enjoy a healthy lifestyle and form excellent relationships with those they may work with in the future. Wider community links have been formed over a number of years and students appreciate being able to participate in a wide variety of activities based off site.
Hampton Senior High School offers a range of courses to suit all year levels for students to further their knowledge and skills. Some of our Senior School Certificate II courses include Sport & Recreation, Sport Coaching and Outdoor Recreation. Our Physical Education Studies and Health Education Studies courses offer students the opportunity to gain entry into university. Leadership skills in students are encouraged and developed within these courses and opportunities provided to those who display potential in this field.
