Principal’s Welcome

Principal Steve Beaton

Principal
Steve Beaton

Hello and welcome to the Hampton Senior High School website where you will find current information about the many specialist programs and activities our students participate in alongside their regular curriculum.

Hampton Senior High School has a rich history of academic performance, sporting success and excellence in The Arts which has seen many of our Alumni recognised for their talents in National and International forums.

Our school motto Labor Omnia Vincit (“Hard work conquers all”) and our school vision “Aspire. Innovate, Achieve” are the standards upon which all practice at the school are assessed, reviewed and remodelled as we strive to ensure that all of our students maximise their opportunities for success academically and socially.

Alongside our rigorous curriculum, with programs tailored to individual needs, we offer many specialist and enrichment programs aimed at enhancing performance of students with gifted skills. As a result we offer a Department of Education endorsed Gifted & Talented Dance program along with Specialist programs in Information Communication Technology, Performing Arts, Cheer Dance and Science. Our staff are regularly involved with the professional development of teachers and administrators in other schools in both Metropolitan and Rural settings.

We have an extensively qualified Student Services team who look after all the pastoral care needs of our student population. This team consists of a Student Services manager, a specific Year Coordinator for each cohort, Attendance Officer, AEIO, Youth Workers, Education Assistants, Community Nurse and a full time Psychologist.

2015 was our first year as an Independent Public School and we have embraced this opportunity by renewing our School Plan and setting the foundations for our first School Board. We also have an extremely dedicated parent body and any new parents to the school are encouraged to speak with us about your involvement with our Parents and Citizens group. Our P&C has a very important role to play in the school and has been instrumental in ensuring community and government support for upgrades to our facilities such as the Science lab refurbishments, the excellent performing arts facilities available in the Eric Strauss Performing Arts Centre, funding towards the Specialist ICT building and major refurbishments of the school canteen.

Our teaching staff have been merit selected and are all specialists in their fields with many holding Senior Teacher status and a growing list Of Level 3 Classroom Teachers. As you will see in the Aspire. Innovate. Achieve. video students produced about the school for our Independent Public Schools submission in 2014, quality relationships between students and teachers, with engagement and relevance as the cornerstones is the key highlight of the school for our students.

The future for Hampton Senior High School is a bright one and I encourage you to become a part of our growing community as a student, parent volunteer or community champion.

If you have further enquiries as a result of your tour of our website please do not hesitate to call our reception on 9270 5700 to arrange for a visit or interview with one of our helpful staff. I look forward to seeing you at one of our many events as the year unfolds.

Kind Regards,

Steven Beaton
